On April 28, 2024, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Luo Zhaohui attended and addressed the opening ceremony of the Nepal Investment Summit 2024 in Kathmandu.
In his address, Luo said that realizing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals is an important goal for all countries, and that investment is indispensable in achieving development. Against the backdrop of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development being behind schedule, Nepal's hosting of this summit bears special significance, he said.
Nepal poses great potential for development with broad investment prospects, Luo noted. China attaches great importance to its relations with Nepal and has become the largest source of foreign investment in the country, he said, adding that China will continue to attach importance to direct and indirect investment in Nepal, encourage influential and qualified Chinese enterprises to invest in Nepal, and facilitate investment by jointly carrying out Belt and Road cooperation and implementing the Global Development Initiative to a high standard.
He raised his hope that the Nepalese side will foster a better investment environment, and pledged to work alongside them to accelerate the implementation of the Trans-Himalayas All-dimensional Connectivity Network, and jointly build a better future for both China and Nepal and a closer community with a shared future for mankind.
Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and over 1,600 government and corporate representatives attended the event. More than 350 Chinese entrepreneurs attended the summit, the most among attending countries.
